Visitor tip
To respectfully interact with the shrine's kami, visitors should first purify their hands and mouth at the temizuya before making an offering at the main shrine. Don't forget to also try some fresh seafood at one of the nearby restaurants!

As a coastal shrine, Tangen Jinsha Shrine is deeply connected to the maritime history and folklore of Fukuoka. During the annual Sanja Matsuri festival, visitors can witness traditional dances and offerings to the sea kami.
