Nakatsu Hachiman Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Nakatsugawa-machi, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Cultural notes
Nakatsu Hachiman Shrine is famous for its association with the legend of Minamoto no Yoshitsune, a renowned samurai and leader of the Genpei War. According to myth, Yoshitsune prayed to Hachiman for victory at the Battle of Dan-no-ura, which ultimately led to his downfall. The shrine's architecture and sacred objects are said to hold spiritual significance related to this legend.
Historical note
The shrine was established in 718 CE by Prince Shōtoku.
