Located in the city of Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture's Eight Horseshoe Shrine is a notable Shinto site dedicated to the god of war, Hachiman. Founded during the Heian period (794-1185 CE), this shrine was originally constructed as a memorial to the hero Minamoto no Yoshitsune. The eight horseshoes, which represent the eight clans that were defeated by Hachiman, are displayed in a large structure and serve as a symbol of good luck and protection.
