Taisaiji Misakiyoshi no Hachiman Jinja, commonly known as Misakiyama Shrine, is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Misaki in Ishikawa Prefecture. Dedicated to Hachiman, the god of war and patron deity of samurai, this shrine was originally built during the Nara period (710-794 CE). Over time, it has undergone renovations and expansions, including a major reconstruction during the Edo period (1603-1867 CE). Today, visitors can still experience traditional Shinto rituals and festivals, as well as observe the shrine's unique architectural style, which blends ancient and modern elements. The shrine is particularly notable for its beautiful gardens and seasonal cherry blossom viewing areas.

Cultural notes
Misakiyama Shrine is associated with the legend of Hachiman, who was said to have appeared as a messenger of Amaterasu, the sun goddess. The shrine also hosts an annual festival in May to celebrate the beginning of summer, featuring traditional music and dance performances.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt during the Edo period after being damaged by an earthquake in 1703.
