Located in Fukuoka, 不老水 Shrine is dedicated to the kami of longevity and water. The shrine's name, literally meaning 'Immortal Water', reflects its association with eternal life and rejuvenation. According to local legend, the shrine was built on the site where a legendary figure was said to have discovered an immortal spring.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes

In Shinto mythology, water is associated with the god of the sea, Ryujin. Not old water shrine is also connected to the legend of Urashima Taro, a fisherman who discovered an immortal spring and lived forever before eventually returning to the world of humans.
