Hifuku-jinja is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture. The shrine was established in 757 AD and is dedicated to the god Hachiman, who is revered as the patron deity of warriors and the protector of the city. Visitor tip
To experience the shrine's tranquil atmosphere, visit early in the morning or late in the evening when the sun is low. The riverbank is also a great spot for a picnic.
Cultural notes
Hifuku-jinja is closely associated with the legend of Hachiman, who was said to have been angered by the corruption and laziness of the people of Kanazawa during his visit in the 8th century. The shrine's most famous festival is the Matsuri no Hi, which takes place on June 2nd and features traditional dances, music, and food.
