Eight Horseshoe Shrine, located in the town of Katsuyama in Ishikawa Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Oinagisama, a minor deity believed to have been worshipped by the ancient Besshi people. The shrine's striking architecture features eight large wooden pillars resembling horseshoes, said to symbolize protection and strength. Visitor tip

Cultural notes
According to local legend, the eight horseshoes were placed at the shrine to honor a great battle where a samurai warrior defeated a powerful enemy. The shrine is also famous for its beautiful autumn foliage, with over 1,000 trees surrounding the grounds.
