Located in the heart of Fukuoka, Kushida Shrine is one of Japan's oldest and most revered Shinto shrines, with a rich history dating back to the 8th century. Dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu, it is also believed to be the shrine where the legendary samurai lord Mochizuki Chiyome no Okami was enshrined, said to have possessed supernatural powers.

Cultural notes
Kushida Shrine is known for its unique architecture, featuring a vermilion torii gate and a large wooden hall dedicated to Amaterasu. The shrine also hosts various festivals throughout the year, including the Kushida Shrine Festival in April, which features traditional dance performances and food stalls selling local delicacies.
Historical note
The shrine's current structures date back to the Edo period (1603-1867), although it is believed that a temple existed on this site as early as the Nara period (710-794).
