Himegoto Shrine is dedicated to Hime no Okami, the Deer Goddess, a minor kami associated with fertility and prosperity in rural areas. Founded during the Heian period (794-1185 CE), the shrine was originally located in the eastern part of Kyoto but was rebuilt in its current location in the 18th century.

Visitor tip
