Visitor tip

Cultural notes

This shrine is famously associated with the legend of Hachiman Okami, who was said to have appeared to Emperor Shōmu in a dream, guiding him towards the correct path. During the Edo period, the shrine became an important site for samurai to pray for victory and honor.
