拝殿

Aomori

The 拝殿 shrine, located in Aomori Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami of the forest and fertility. The shrine's name translates to 'hall of offerings' or ' temple of reverence', reflecting its role as a sacred space for worship and devotion. Built in the 17th century, the shrine features traditional Japanese architectural style with a wooden torii gate and a serene garden.

Visitor tip

Visitors can try traditional Aomori-style tea, called 'awamori', at the shrine's teahouse.

Cultural notes

The shrine was rebuilt in the 19th century after a fire destroyed the original structure.
