船坂神社

Aomori

Located in the heart of Aomori City, Hakoda Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Inari Okami. The shrine's architecture reflects the Heian period and features a large torii gate as its entrance. Visitors can see various offerings left by devotees at the shrine's altars.

Try some freshly baked senbei, traditional rice crackers, which are usually offered to Inari Okami at this shrine.

Cultural notes

As a major Shinto shrine for fertility and prosperity, Inari is believed to be the patron deity of farmers, merchants, and artisans. During the autumnal equinox, a festival called 'Aki Matsuri' is held here to honor Inari with rice offerings and traditional dances.
