Cultural notes
This shrine is known for its unique architectural style, which features a distinctive curved roof and vermilion torii gate. The shrine is also famous for its 'fugaku-zukuri' ( Mt.Fuji-like) design of the main hall, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of the iconic mountain.
Historical note
The shrine was founded in 744 CE, during the Nara period, by Prince Nagaya, who enshrined a sacred image of Inari Okami at his family's estate.
