Visitor tip
To experience the shrine's serene atmosphere, visit during the Golden Week (late April to early May), when it is especially crowded with cherry blossom viewers.
Cultural notes
Taikashi Shrine is associated with the legend of the 'Three Wise Men', who guided the Emperor Nintoku on his journey from the island of Kyushu to the mainland. The shrine's festival, known as Taikashi Matsuri, takes place in June and features traditional dances and offerings to the deity.
