西舘神社

Aomori

Located in the heart of Aomori City, 西舘神社 is a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to the deity of the sea and fishing. Founded in 1872, it is one of the oldest shrines in Aomori Prefecture. The shrine's main hall is adorned with traditional tiles and shōin-zukuri architectural style, typical of coastal shrines in Japan.

As a coastal shrine, 西舘神社 is associated with the deity of the sea, Ryujin. The shrine also hosts an annual fishing festival, known as 'Aomori Kannon Odoshi,' where fishermen pray for safe catches and good fortune.
