Atago Shrine, located in Kyoto, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of fire and purification, Atagokami. Cultural notes
Atagokami is also revered as the god of war and agriculture. The shrine's main festival, Jogo Matsuri, takes place in April and features a traditional dance performance called 'Jogodo', which is said to bring good luck and prosperity.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt in 1614 after being destroyed during the Boshin War.
