Gold Sword Shrine, located in Chiba Prefecture, is a Shinto site dedicated to the enshrined deity Futsunusato no Okami, also known as Tsukuyomi and Susano-no-Ookami. The shrine is famous for its stunning gold sword and yaburi shrine structure, which dates back to the 17th century.

Cultural notes

Futsunusato no Okami, or Tsukuyomi, is a kami associated with the moon and fertility. The shrine hosts an annual festival in May, known as 'Gaki Matsuri,' which honors the god's power to bring good fortune and prosperity.

Historical note

The shrine was re-established in the 19th century after being destroyed during the Genpei War.
