日枝神社(福山市神辺町)

Dayo Jinsha is a Shinto shrine located in Fukuyamashi, Okayama Prefecture. Dedicated to the kami of agriculture and fertility, it has been an important source of water supply for the local community for centuries. The shrine's architecture reflects the traditional style of Shugendo shrines, with a distinctive black gate and wooden torii. Dayo Jinsha is also famous for its beautiful cherry blossom trees, which bloom in late March.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes

As a Shugendo shrine, Dayo Jinsha is believed to be inhabited by a combination of Buddhist and Shinto deities. The shrine is also famous for its festival called 'Dayo Matsuri', which takes place in May and features traditional dances and performances.

Founded in the Muromachi period (14th century), it has been an important center of local worship and agriculture.
