Located in Akita Prefecture, Kūshō-jinsha Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Ōnokuchi no Ō-no-Mikoto, the deified spirit of the former daimyō Ōnokuchi Naochika. The shrine's main hall, designed in the traditional Heian period style, features a stunning example of Japanese architecture with its unique roof and vermilion walls. Ōnokuchi no Ō-no-Mikoto, the primary kami enshrined at Kūshō-jinsha Shrine, is believed to have been a powerful daimyō who ruled Akita Province during the Sengoku period. According to local legend, he was said to possess supernatural strength and wisdom, earning him great respect from his subjects.
Historical note
Founded in 1590 as a shrine for Ōnokuchi Naochika, it has undergone several renovations and expansions throughout its history.
