The orange blossom tree is a symbol of the shrine, believed to bring good luck and prosperity in Shizuoka Prefecture. The shrine was originally built in 1633 during the Edo period, dedicated to the deity of agriculture, Ryujin. Visitors can still see the remains of the old shrine's foundation walls, now incorporated into the new structure.

Cultural notes
This shrine is associated with the mythological powers of Ryujin, said to have created the waters of Suruga Bay. During the spring festival, locals participate in a traditional dance called 'Ryujin Matsuri' to honor the deity.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt in 1888 after a fire destroyed much of the original temple.
