Highway Tamagawa Shrine, located in the town of Katsuta on the eastern coast of Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture, is dedicated to the kami (deities) of the local region. The shrine's main deity is Ōkami-no-Mikoto, a Shinto god associated with fertility, prosperity, and protection. According to local legend, Ōkami-no-Mikoto was said to have been invited by the first inhabitants of Katsuta to ensure the area's prosperity.
