Gengoshin Asamagasa Shrine is a Shinto temple located in Enishi, Eniwa District, Chiba Prefecture, and is one of the three shrines dedicated to the god of fishing in the Eniwa region. The shrine's main hall was built during the Heian period (794-1185 CE) and features a unique architectural style characteristic of the Kamakura period (1185-1333 CE).

Visitor tip
To respect the shrine's fishing deity, it is customary to bring a small gift of seafood or a paper fish before visiting.
Cultural notes
Gengoshin Asamagasa Shrine is also famous for its beautiful garden and traditional Japanese architecture. The shrine is said to be the place where fishermen pray for safe catches and successful fishing trips. During the annual 'Fishing Blessing Ceremony' in late September, local fishermen bring their fresh catches to the shrine for a ceremonial offering.
