Bird Hall Shrine, located in the heart of Kyoto, is dedicated to the Shinto deity Inari Okami. The shrine is famous for its numerous small shrines and torii gates that are said to be inhabited by fox spirits (Kitsune), which are associated with the kami of rice, fertility, and prosperity.

Visitor tip
To avoid crowds, visit the shrine early in the morning or late in the afternoon when the torii gates are lit up by sunset.
