千姫天満宮

Chinahime Tenman-gu Shrine in Hyogo Prefecture is dedicated to the goddess of mercy and childbirth, Chinahime, as well as the god of war, Susanoo. The shrine's architecture reflects its historical significance as a sacred site during the Heian period. Its iconic torii gate was rebuilt in 2011 after being damaged by an earthquake. The shrine complex features a traditional Japanese garden and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Cultural notes

Chinahime Tenman-gu Shrine is also famous for its unique 'Yukimi' festival in winter, where devotees make offerings of sake and food to honor Chinahime. The shrine's torii gate is adorned with special lanterns during this event.
