Matsushima Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Hiraizumi, Iwate Prefecture. The shrine was built to honor the four kami of Matsushima, including High Priestess Matsushima and Eight-Fold God (Eight-High) Matsushima, who are believed to be the guardians of the local region. The shrine complex includes a large stone bridge and several structures that reflect the architectural style typical of the Heian period.
