Visitor tip

Cultural notes
Omiwa Shrine is closely associated with the legend of Princess Iratsu, who was said to have performed a ritual at the shrine before her marriage. The shrine also features a unique torii gate made from bamboo, which serves as an important landmark in Japanese architecture. In addition, the shrine's grounds are home to several festivals throughout the year, including the Omiwa Shrine Spring Festival and the Biwajima Fire Festival.
