Located in the city of Takahashi, Okayama Prefecture, Arashinagawa Shrine is dedicated to Inari Okami, the Shinto god of rice and prosperity. The shrine is famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates that form a tunnel leading up to the main hall, said to symbolize a path to spiritual enlightenment. Visitors can purchase ema tokens to write prayers or wishes on wooden plaques, which are then hung on the gates.

Visitor tip
Before entering the torii gate tunnel, make sure to take a small envelope from the donation box to write your prayers or wishes on the ema token.
Cultural notes
As with many Inari shrines, the shrine's interior is decorated with thousands of fox-shaped ornaments, known as kitsune, which are believed to bring good fortune and prosperity. The shrine also hosts an annual autumn festival in November, where visitors can enjoy traditional performances and food stalls.
