Reiling Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Akita Prefecture, dedicated to Tsukuyomi-no-okami, the moon god and brother of the sun goddess Amaterasu. The shrine complex features a unique three-tiered hall and is surrounded by beautiful gardens and ponds.

Visitor tip
Visit Reiling Shrine early in the morning to witness the stunning sunsets reflected on the ponds, or attend one of their autumn leaf viewing festivals.
Cultural notes
Tsukuyomi-no-okami is often invoked for matters related to the moon, navigation, and agricultural cycles. The shrine also hosts a festival to honor the goddess of longevity, Bishamonten.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt after suffering damage during World War II.
