Cultural notes
Arashi no Kamikaze is often associated with the stormy weather that brings typhoons to the Okayama region. Locals believe that the shrine's high vantage point allows them to monitor and prepare for these storms. The shrine also hosts an annual festival, called 'Aki Matsuri', which takes place in October and features traditional dances and offerings to Arashi no Kamikaze.
Historical note
The shrine was established in the Edo period (1603-1867) as a branch shrine of the famous Izumo Taisha Shrine.
