Cultural notes
Mika-no-Tsurugi is said to be the sword used by Prince Mika no Osami in battle, who was betrayed and killed by his brother. This unique mythological connection is reflected in the shrine's name, 'Noto-sa', meaning 'place where Mika's sword lies'.
