Tottori

Located in the scenic town of Osafune, Sakamoto Shrine is dedicated to the kami Otori no Izumo, patron deity of the province of Izumo and protector of travelers. Dedicated to the kami Otori no Izumo, this shrine is a notable example of the traditional architecture found throughout Japan's Tottori Prefecture.

Cultural notes

Sakamoto Shrine is known for its unique wooden torii gate, which stands over eight meters tall. During the spring festival, locals dress in traditional clothing to honor Otori no Izumo and pray for a bountiful harvest.
