Located in the heart of Akita Prefecture, Sanbo-in Shrine is a Shinto temple dedicated to the worship of Sanbō Daigojin, a deity believed to control the weather and fertility of the region's soil. The shrine's architecture reflects its historical ties to the Nanbu clan, one of the most powerful samurai families in Japan during the Edo period.

Cultural notes
