Cultural notes
Onsen Shinsho is closely associated with the mythology of Ryujin, who is believed to possess healing properties. According to legend, a local resident was cured of an illness after praying at the shrine for the favor of Ryujin.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt in 1718 after being destroyed by fire.
