Fudōdōji Hachiman Shrine in Yamanashi Prefecture is dedicated to the Shinto god of war and prosperity, Hachiman Ōkami. The shrine's current structure dates back to 1884, although it is believed to be built on a site where a previous temple stood since the Edo period. Cultural notes
Fudōdōji Hachiman Shrine is connected to the legend of Minamoto no Yoshitsune, a famous samurai who was said to have sought the god's protection during the Genpei War. The shrine also features a unique torii gate that is adorned with vermilion paint and features a distinctive curved shape.

The shrine was rebuilt in its current form after a devastating earthquake in 1884.
