Cultural notes

Itakiso is believed to be a variant of the god Inari, known as Itami-no-kami in ancient texts. The shrine hosts an annual festival in May to celebrate its founding, featuring traditional music, dance, and food vendors. Visitors can also participate in a purification ritual, called 'misogi,' to cleanse their minds and bodies.

Historical note

Founded in 645 CE during the Asuka period, Itakiso Shrine has been an important cultural and spiritual center in Hyogo Prefecture for over 1,375 years.
