Located in the town of Katsuyama, Fukui Prefecture, Funazu Shrine is dedicated to Inari Okami, the Shinto god of rice and fertility. The shrine's architecture is characterized by a vermilion torii gate, typical of the Kanzeon-ryu style prevalent during the Edo period. The shrine's grounds also feature several large stones believed to have been sacred sites in ancient times. Visitor tip
To avoid missing the shrine's famous 'rice grain' offerings, visitors are advised to arrive early in the morning and take a photo with the vermilion torii gate while it is still covered in rice grains left overnight by devotees.
