Sumiyoshi Shrine

Dedicated to the three Sumiyoshi kami who are revered as protectors of seafarers and maritime activities, this shrine serves the coastal community of Kochi with prayers for safe voyages and abundant fishing catches. The Sumiyoshi deities—Sokotsutsunoo, Nakatsutsutsunoo, and Uwatsutsutsunoo—are believed to purify both body and spirit while offering protection from oceanic dangers.
