Hie Shrine, located on the island of Izu in Kanagawa Prefecture, is one of Japan's most famous and historic shrines. Built in 1185 by Minamoto no Yoritomo during the Kamakura period, it was originally dedicated to the god of war, Hachiman. Over time, the shrine came to be enshrined with a multitude of deities, including Amaterasu, Susanoo, and Otohime, reflecting the complex spiritual landscape of medieval Japan.
