下畑海神社

Located in the southern part of Osaka, below畑海神社 is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of the sea, Okuninushi. The shrine is known for its scenic location at the mouth of the Higashi-yata River and its beautiful garden. Visitors can experience traditional Japanese culture through various festivals and events held throughout the year.

Cultural notes

Okuninushi is also revered as the patron deity of plum blossoms. The shrine holds an annual plum blossom festival in February and March, featuring beautiful cherry blossom viewing areas and traditional dances.

Founded in 1594 during the Muromachi period, the shrine has been an important center for the local community.
