Visitor tip

To make a wish at the Love Shrine, tie a red string around a paper crane and hang it on the torii gate. Bring one back as a souvenir to keep the good fortune.

Cultural notes

The shrine is connected to the mythology of Setsuna-no-Okami, the goddess of love and fertility. During the Setsubun festival in February, visitors can throw beans to drive away evil spirits and bring good luck.

The shrine was founded in 1681 during the Edo period by Hotta Masayoshi.
