Located in Fukui Prefecture, Fujisan Shrine is dedicated to the god of Mt. Fuji, who is believed to reside at the shrine's site on the banks of the Echizen River. The shrine was originally built during the Nara period (710-794 CE) and has undergone numerous restorations over the centuries. Visitors can observe the unique shrine architecture, which features a vermilion torii gate and a beautiful garden.

Cultural notes
Fujisan Shrine is closely associated with the mythology of Mt. Fuji, which is said to be the residence of several kami, including Fujisan Okappan (Mt. Fuji god) and Fujin (wind god). The shrine also celebrates the Shodai Matsuri festival in May, where visitors can witness a traditional dance performance.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt in 1645 CE after being destroyed by a flood.
