The Shrines of Ise and Misaki, including the local temples and shrines in Niigata Prefecture, are dedicated to Inari Okami, who is believed to preside over rice fields and agriculture. The shrine, called 諏訪社, is also associated with the god of fertility and prosperity. It is said that the shrine's primary deity, Inari Okami, is responsible for the fertility of the surrounding region and its agricultural produce.

Cultural notes

As part of its cultural significance, the shrine hosts the annual Tanabata festival, where people come to write wishes on tanzaku papers and hang them from the shrine's torii gate. This festival is believed to have originated in the Heian period and is said to represent a meeting between two star-crossed lovers.
