Dayotsu Shrine, located in the heart of Saitama Prefecture, is a tranquil Shinto oasis nestled between the scenic Dayotsu and Oku rivers. This shrine, dedicated to the deity Tsukuyomi no Ōkami, has been a sacred site for locals since its founding during the Edo period.

Cultural notes

Tsukuyomi no Ōkami, the shrine's primary deity, is often invoked for good fortune, prosperity, and protection. The shrine is also famous for its beautiful gardens and traditional festivals, including the annual Tsukimi Matsuri (Moon Viewing Festival), which takes place on the 15th day of the 8th month.

Historical note

The shrine's current main hall was rebuilt in 1888.
