石動神社

Dedicated to the kami of agriculture and fertility, Goshin'youjin Taisha is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture. However, we are focusing on 石動神社 (Ishiyodoin Jinja) in Niigata Prefecture. This shrine is believed to be dedicated to the kami of the earth and fertility, and its name literally means 'earth-shaking god shrine'.

Visitor tip

To avoid disappointment, please note that the shrine's main hall was destroyed by fire in 1968 and has not yet been rebuilt. Please be respectful of the current structure.

This shrine is famous for its unique architectural style, which combines elements of traditional Japanese temples with local Niigata-style vermillion tile work. During the annual autumn festival, visitors can participate in a ritual to pray for a good harvest and fertility.
