This shrine is dedicated to the three Munakata goddesses (Ichikishimahime, Tagorihime, and Takitsuhime), powerful sea deities who protect travelers, fishermen, and those seeking safe passage across water. Despite being located inland in Gifu Prefecture, the shrine maintains the maritime spiritual traditions of the Munakata faith, with worshippers coming to pray for traffic safety, successful journeys, and protection during travel. The three sister goddesses are also revered for their connections to beauty, artistic pursuits, and the blessing of beneficial relationships.
