Cultural notes
As an important Shinto site, Shinmeigu Shrine is often visited during New Year's (Oshogatsu) and autumnal equinox (Koyo) festivals. The shrine also features several statues of Amaterasu, as well as a unique ' mirror-like' reflecting pool.
Historical note
Shinmeigu Shrine was founded in 1528 by Lord Mōri Terumoto, a prominent daimyo of the time.
