Located in the heart of Sapporo, Hokkaido Jingu Tongu is one of Japan's oldest and most revered Shinto shrines. Established in 1869 by Emperor Meiji, it was originally built as a substitute for the original Tsukanosato Shrine on the island of Hokkaido.
