AtagoJinja Shrine, located in the prefecture of Miyagi, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of fire and flames. According to legend, the shrine was established by the founder of Sendai, Date Masamune, in 1604 as a place for offering fires to the kami. The shrine's architecture reflects the Edo period, with its traditional wooden torii gate and a large stone torii that stands at over 8 meters tall. AtagoJinja is particularly famous for its annual Bon Festival, which honors the spirit of fire and features elaborate bonfires, lanterns, and food stalls.
