The shrine's name, 'Tsurumizu' in Japanese, which roughly translates to 'small bird valley,' reflects its scenic location near the Tsuru River. The shrine has survived for centuries, and its current structure dates back to 1887. Its architecture is inspired by traditional Japanese styles, with a large vermilion torii gate and a wooden main hall.
