Located in Iwate Prefecture, small Bird Valley Eight-High Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of war, Fujin. The shrine's name, 'Tsurumizu' in Japanese, which roughly translates to 'small bird valley,' reflects its scenic location near the Tsuru River. The shrine has survived for centuries, and its current structure dates back to 1887. Its architecture is inspired by traditional Japanese styles, with a large vermilion torii gate and a wooden main hall. Visitors can explore the shrine grounds, which feature several smaller shrines dedicated to other kami.
